Founder and CEO of DSYSC ™ Productions

Kevin Saunders is the Founder and CEO of DSYSC™ Productions. Believing Salsa can be used to promote cultural awareness, Kevin, a self described “Salsa Evangelist”, founded DSYSC™ Productions in July 2002 to spread his knowledge and love of Salsa to people of all races and ethnicities in the Washington DC area. Since DSYSC’s inception, Kevin has taught hundreds of people to dance Salsa, and instilled in them a passion for Latin music and culture.

 Kevin always had an appreciation for various kinds of music, and loved to dance, but was not exposed to Salsa until adulthood. While a student at University of the District of Columbia Law School, a Cuban-born friend of Kevin’s took him to Havana Village, a Latin and Salsa dance club in DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood where Kevin heard Latin music for the first time. The combination of Salsa dance and music was intoxicating. Enchanted by the rhythms, he felt all his muscles scream out: “I want to dance!” and resolved that night to learn to dance Salsa.

Signing up for weekly Salsa lessons at Havana Village, Kevin quickly found friends and mentors in the DC Salsa community who recognized and encouraged Kevin’s passion for Salsa. Eventually Kevin’s dancing abilities grew to the point where he was frequently asked to substitute for his teachers whenever they were unavailable. While substituting for his teachers Kevin realized he possessed a talent for teaching Salsa dance to others, and found he really enjoyed teaching others. He also discovered that everyone could learn to dance Salsa with the proper instruction despite their background or perceived level of dancing ability. Now, confident in both his abilities as a dancer and teacher, Kevin set out on his own to introduce as many people as possible to the music and dance that has given him so much.

Since 2002, DSYSC™ Productions has performed before civic, church and cultural organizations. Kevin also teaches beginner and intermediate dancers at various Latin clubs in the DC area including Bravo! Bravo!, Skyline Nightclub, and Terra e Mare Restaurant, and provides private lessons.

In addition to Salsa, the other driving force in Kevin’s life is his relationship with Christ. Through Bible study and prayer Kevin trusts God to direct his path and guide him. A regular attendee of McLean Bible Church, Kevin enjoys sharing his faith with others and participates in many church events--two highlights of which were his trips as a missionary to the Dominican Republic in 2002 and Ecuador in 2004.

A graduate of Drexel University Philadelphia, PA Kevin received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Catholic University of America, and a Juris Doctor degree from the DC School of Law.
